02

Yesterday I had a reunited girls' night with Melo, Max and my sister. Needless to say, it was much needed after the past few months of grueling uni work. Anyway, we had supper at Pizza Hut (I hadn't been there in AGES) and we decided to get the huge 'festive' meal - two medium pizzas, 20 chicken wings and a side order of bread steaks among four girls. Yeah, I ended up eating most of the meal... what? I was hungry!

Then Melo and Max finally convinced me to go out with them afterwards - we tried to get my sister in as well but she turned in early because she had to be at work the following morning. Cue a night of dancing and familiar acquaintances at Golden. Seriously, I ran into my neighbor and someone I used to work with at Wal-Mart while we were there. All in all, night was quite enjoyable, and impressive even - I never thought I'd see a guy who'd be able to shack his ass better than a girl.

Ended up in bed at 4am, was woken up at 9:30am by my mother because I had to go see my former boss for a reference letter. Boss tells me to speak with human resources, and bitchy human resources tells me that it's against store policy to write reference letters. Um, what?! You're the number 1 company in the entire world and you can't even write one little reference letter? Oh no, all they can do for me is write on a paper stating when I started working there and when I ended. Gah. Well I took it anyway for my VIA Rail interview and will explain to my interviewee how she can call then Wal-Mart for a reference (because they're obviously too imcomptent to put it down on paper for me).

I only have one more reading and an essay left to do this year. I can't believe I'm almost finished my first year of university, time passes by so quickly. Pretty soon I'm going to have to start revising for my exams - but then I can rejoice that come April 20, I will be on summer vacation until September! Happy days!

01

So I have a place to live in next year. For the past couple of weeks, I've been fretting around wondering whether or not I'll actually be homeless come September because A) I did not apply to live in residence again next year and risk being stuck in another horrendous situation (see roommate disturbance at 3am) and B) The list of potential roomies for next year was diminishing by the day because people were either finding other arrangements or accepting their residence offers.

Anyway, Larissa and I went to visit a condo on Tuesday which is actually really close to Carleton. It's a 25 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride - the latter being more suited for my convenience! We walked in, and I must say, I was actually smitten by the place! Three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a lovely kitchen with ceramic flooring and appliances, washer/dryer included in a closet, and hardwood floors for the dining and living room! Plus, we have a nice balcony to sit and drink tea on and you can actually see Carleton from it! Needless to say, I had found my new love, as did Larissa. Her parents put in an offer yesterday, cue an entire evening of wondering whether or not this would actually pull through, followed by a YES confirmation today at lunch. Larissa and I are both ecstatic.

I actually got my blog last week, but couldn't find anything to write about. I don't know why, but it seems to be a "blogging" trend to write about all the things that are wrong in this world and how things like people who walk really closely behind you in public is extremely annoying and uncomfortable... I have a feeling I may turn into a cynic if I become a frequent blog- OH! Something to complain about.

I can't stand when people burn toast. It just smells awful and puts me off eating it! Allow me to elaborate. See, when I moved into residence in September my roommate Katie had brought with her a toaster oven and promptly claimed that we could use it as a toaster as well. That seemed convenient enough and would save on counter space. However, this toaster oven has since become one of my greatest enemies in the kitchen. It doesn't cook enough one day, burns your toast the next, you practically have to sit beside it and hold it by the hand in order to make sure that your toast comes out of it somewhat edible. And to be honest, I don't have the time or patience to argue with a kitchen appliance. Thus, I haven't eaten toast since September, which is upsetting because I actually really enjoying have it. Anyway, my other roommate Ashley, the otherwise neurotic one in our flat, BURNS her toast every time and then stinks the place out... my door is closed and my room is still infested, I'm going to have to go on a serious Febreeze detoxification after the end of this entry... which is going to end here I'm afraid before I die from asphyxiation.
